With less than a week to go until Derby Mini Maker Faire, we are extremely excited to not only hold the second Derby Mini Maker Faire but to also launch the redeveloped ground floor space of The Silk Mill.
Here’s a little sneak peek of the space where the makers, workshops, café and activities will take place this Saturday. If you are famililar with the space from last years faire or from visiting The Silk Mill before it was mothballed, you can see that it has been stripped back to the core materials in which it was made from. The asbestos has been removed and the walls have been sandblasted to reveal the original brick, along with new lighting, floor and a lick of paint.
As well as a fantastic range of makers and workshops available this weekend, you can get involved in shaping the ground floor space at The Silk Mill. Working with TILT, makers-in-residence at the mill, there will be the opportunity to think about who would use the space, how it could be used and what would be in it, plus designing and building furniture and fittings!
We look forward to seeing you there on Saturday but in the meantime, take a look at the project so far and register to take part here
