The 5th annual Derby Mini Maker Faire at The Silk Mill, the site of the world’s first factory and the gateway to the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage site, returns on Saturday 22 October 2016.

This year we’ll be celebrating our 5th birthday with an extra special event. We need enthusiastic, friendly and hardworking volunteers to help us make this Maker Faire the most successful Faire yet!

What is a Maker Faire?
Maker Faires are held all over the world. They are an international initiative – the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth! It is a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement!
Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

What will I be doing?
There will be a variety of roles to take part in and help contribute to make the Faire a success. From hands on opportunities to help install, the chance to enhance the visitor experience through orientation and welcoming to capturing the event through film and photography.

How do I get involved?
If you would like to be informed when you can apply to volunteer, please complete an application form and send it to our Volunteer Coordinator, Gemma Hopkins.
